Art that doesn't create doubt has no life in it.
about.
Nasam (in Arbic: نسم), is my name. I hold a BFA in Sculpture from the Faculty of Fine Art II, Suwayda Branch, Damascus University (2013). In 2018, I finally got out of Syria_my homeland, to settle in the Netherlands. Since then, I have re-established my career in the practice of Art & Research. In 2019 I re-connected with my academic study at the Dutch University of Utrecht; I did most of my courses in the MAPS program, the department of Media & Culture Studies, and also had the chance to do courses in the GS program, the department of Gender Studies. Currently, I am performing my dissertation to gain a degree in Arts & Culture Studies, MAAS program at the UU. In general, I do not think that Art does claim the truth or its formulation, and not to what extent it can be compatible with it; the truth is gradually acquired and never concluded! But Art might be a process to approach the truth! For me, Art is the process of creating rooms for new manifestations of our being. It is the process of planting attention toward further moralities and other cultural spectrums. Art is the whole lacuna in which bodies, tales, memories... & people drift and bump into each other! I see myself there; I am that weird tune of Art; I thump like a gesture toward unfamiliar realities. I am a warning sign posing in a severe attempt to expose the Art of me! To make this, I drown myself in the dark water of our intimate coexistence; I experience and engage with every barred matter that needs to perform visibly for a more Inclusive reality.
